Guthrie Trash OffSponsored by Environmental Management

Large

For over 20 years, Environmental Management has teamed up with the City of Guthrie to provide smart, cost-effective ways to safely dispose of household hazardous waste by participating in the annual Trash Off.  These events are restricted to small quantities of household chemicals, and structured to provide a valuable community service to Guthrie residents with a safe, environmentally friendly alternative for disposal of potentially harmful chemicals.

The materials listed below have been commonly referred to as household hazardous waste, or HHW:

  • Automotive products (antifreeze, fluids, motor oil, gasoline, diesel, polish, wax, etc.)
  • Batteries (Lithium Ion, Nickel Cadmium, etc.)
  • Household cleaners (Drain Cleaners, Oven Cleaners, Tile and Shower Cleaners, Ammonia, etc.)
  • Garden Chemicals (Pesticides, Herbicides, Fertilizers, Insecticides, etc.)
  • Pool Chemicals (Muriatic Acid, Chlorine Tablets)
  • Universal Waste Streams (Fluorescent light bulbs, Thermostats/Thermometers containing mercury)
  • Paint Products (Oil based paint, Aerosol Paint Cans, Wood Stains, etc.)

As stewards of the environment, Environmental Management believes that proper disposal of hazardous waste is paramount to the environment and our community.  The HHW event not only provides a valuable service to the citizens of Guthrie, but also raises awareness to the negative impact of improperly disposed hazardous chemicals can have on our community, and future generations.
